About Beetroot Thoran Recipe
Thoran, also known as upperi in Northern Kerala, is a type of dry vegetable dish with coconut that originated in the Indian state of Kerala. This popular dish is typically served with rice and curry and is also included in the traditional Keralite sadhya. Thoran is a dry dish traditionally made of finely chopped vegetables like cabbage, yardlong bean and other bean varieties, unripe jackfruit, bittergourd, or elephant foot yam, leaves like green or red spinach, Moringa oleifera, or Ipomoea aquatica, and flowers like Moringa oleifera or Sesbania grandiflora. The chopped vegetable is stirred briefly in a pan over a hot fire with grated coconut, mustard seeds, curry leaves, and turmeric powder. Beetroots can improve the health of your brain, heart, and digestive system, as well as boost athletic performance, reduce inflammation, and possibly slow the growth of cancer cells. Best of all, beets are delicious and simple to incorporate into your diet. Pin

Beetroot has an earthy, slightly bitter flavour. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, Martinez believes they work best when combined with bright, sweet, and fresh flavours. Add salt if you’re boiling them.
Coconut :
Coconut meat is delicious and slightly sweet, and it can be eaten raw or dried. It is used to make a variety of products, including coconut milk, cream, and oil.
Shallots :
Shallots are a little sweeter than regular onions and have a more subtle flavor. They are good used in raw applications where you want an oniony flavor without too much punch, such as in salads and vinaigrettes, , or in slow roasted or braised dishes, where their sweetness can enhance a dish without watering it down.
