About Blackened Ranch

I love making homemade dressings, dips, and sauces. On our recent trip to the US, we went to Popeye’s and loved the ranch dressing they served with their fried chicken. After a few attempts, I could manage to create a very close recipe. This copycat recipe for Popeye’s Blackened Ranch is a perfect replica of the original. It is a variation of the traditional buttermilk ranch recipe and will surely be a hit with your family and friends.

Serving Suggestions

Popeye’s copycat blackened ranch dressing is great on salads as a salad dressing or over-grilled fish and meat. Sour Cream – I use my homemade Sour Cream to make this ranch sauce recipe, but you can use a store-bought tub. Buttermilk is used to thin down the dressing and maintain the creaminess. Herbs & Spices – You will need dried parsley, dried dill weed, black pepper powder, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt.

1 cup full-fat mayonnaise ¼ cup sour cream ¼ cup buttermilk

Add the following ingredients and mix well with a whisk.

1 tablespoon dried parsley ½ teaspoon dried dill weed ½ teaspoon black pepper powder ½ teaspoon onion powder ½ teaspoon garlic powder 2 teaspoon smoked paprika 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper powder ½ teaspoon salt

Check for salt and add more if needed. Let the mixture sit in the fridge for about 30 minutes before serving. Add milk or cream to the mixture if you want a slightly thinner dressing. If you want a thicker ranch, add extra mayonnaise to this recipe. Let the dip sit in the fridge for about 30 minutes. This will bring out the flavors. For a spicier dressing, add more cayenne pepper, chili sauce, or hot sauce to the mixture, and for a milder dressing, omit the cayenne pepper altogether. It is also delicious as a dipping sauce for grilled vegetables, chips, fried chicken, chicken wings, fried seafood, and chicken tenders. This dressing is also great on burgers, sandwiches, or wraps.

Storage Suggestions

Store this creamy ranch dressing in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to a week. This creamy sauce can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Just thaw it overnight and use it.
