About Blueberry Boba Tea
This homemade Blueberry Boba Tea (Blueberry Milk Bubble Tea) tastes just like your favorite cafe and can be made at a fraction of the cost using simple ingredients. It is easy to make at home, needs simple ingredients, uses no artificial flavorings, and tastes much better than store-bought ones. Like my Chai Tea Boba and Matcha Tea Boba, this Blueberry Tea Boba is also very refreshing. Blueberry Bubble Tea has freshness from blueberries, creaminess from milk, and not to forget the chewy texture of the boba pearls. Enjoy it on a hot summer day to freshen up, or make it to serve at barbeque brunches.
Ingredients
For The Blueberry Syrup
Make a blueberry syrup using fresh blueberries or frozen blueberries, granulated sugar, and water. You can also use store-bought blueberry syrup if you are short on time.
For The Tea
I like to use green tea to make this drink, but you can also use black tea.
For The Boba Pearls
You will need dried boba pearls, which you can find in the Asian section of any grocery store. They are also available online. You will need sugar and honey to sweeten the boba pearls.
Others
You will also need milk and ice cubes. I prefer regular dairy milk, but for a vegan version, you can use plant-based milk such as almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, or oat milk.
How To Make Blueberry Boba Tea
Cook The Boba Pearls
Add 1 cup of water and ¼ cup of granulated sugar to a pan. Heat over medium-high heat until it comes to a boil. Reduce the heat to low. Add ¼ cup of boba pearls to the pan and cook for 15 minutes. Switch off the heat, add 2 tablespoon honey to the pan, and stir well. Remove the pan from the heat and let the pearls soak in for 30 minutes.
Make The Blueberry Syrup
Add ½ cup blueberries, ¼ cup granulated white sugar, and ¼ cup water to a saucepan and cook over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil, stirring frequently. Gently mash the blueberries with the back of a spoon while cooking. Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and cook the syrup for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove the pan from the heat and pass the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer. Let the syrup cool down to room temperature. Use as much as is required to make the blueberry tea boba and store the leftover in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
Brew The Tea
Heat 1 cup of water in a pan. Once it comes to a boil, switch off the heat and add 1 green tea bag. Set the pan aside and let the tea brew for 10 minutes. Discard the tea bag and let the brewed tea come down to room temperature.
Assemble The Blueberry Milk Tea
Pour the green tea into a serving glass. Pour 1 cup of milk and 6 tablespoon of blueberry syrup over the tea and stir well. Take out the boba pearls from the cooking syrup using a slotted spoon and add them to the glass with a few ice cubes. Serve immediately, along with a large boba tea straw. These straws assist you in sucking up the tapioca balls from the bottom of your drink. Sip them through the straw and then chew them in your mouth before swallowing them with your drink.
