on Jan 09, 2024, Updated Oct 08, 2024 If you are looking for more homemade dressings, here are some of the best ones I have made – Jalapeno Garlic Feta Dip, Yogurt Dip with Mint and Garlic, and Bang Bang Sauce. Last week, I went to a potluck party and decided to take a salad with me. I drizzled my simple salad with homemade chipotle ranch dressing and everyone at the party loved it. In this post, I’m sharing a simple recipe to make chipotle flavored ranch dressing. You must definitely try it.
About Chipotle Ranch
Chipotle Ranch is a delicious dressing which is creamy, spicy, tangy and smoky, all at the same time. It can be easily made at home using a blender in under 5 minutes. Although this dressing is easily available in the stores, the homemade one is much better in taste than the store bough ones. Homemade dressing is also free of additives, preservatives and artificial colors. It is much cheaper to make it at home and you can customize it as per your liking
Usage Ideas
Chipotle dressing is perfect to drizzle over salads. Just thin it out with a little water if it looks thick. I sometimes replace mayonnaise with Greek yogurt to make a lighter and healthier option. Sour Cream gives a slightly tangy taste to the dip and makes it creamier. In like to make my own Sour Cream at home and mostly have a tub in my refrigerator. You can try my recipe to make Sour Cream here. Seasonings – I use garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper powder, and dried rosemary to season my dip. Th amount of these seasonings mentioned in the recipe below is how my family likes it. But you can adjust the seasonings to your taste. If you like more prominent garlic flavor, then replace garlic powder with freshly minced garlic. You can also experiment by replacing dried rosemary with other dried herbs like parsley, dill, etc. Freshly squeezed lime juice adds freshness and zing. Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce is the star ingredient of this recipe. Adjust the quantity by adding one pepper at a time until you reach your desired spice level. For someone like me who likes it medium spicy, 2 peppers give the right spice levels. If you cannot source chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, then replace it with smoked paprika. Smoked paprika is milder as compared to chipotle peppers so you can add some cayenne pepper along with it for the heat. I use Green Onions to garnish this dip.
1 cup mayonnaise ½ cup sour cream 2 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon onion powder ½ teaspoon dried rosemary ¼ teaspoon salt ½ tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder 1-2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
Taste and adjust – add more seasonings or increase the chipotle peppers to heat preference. Refrigerate for at least an hour for the flavor to meddle together. Garnish the ready dressing with chopped green onions and serve! If you do not have a blender, then mix all the ingredients in a bowl using a wire whisk. Just finely chop the chipotle peppers and then add them to the dip. If you have a store-bought ranch mix, then prepare it as per the instructions written on the packet and mix it with lime juice and chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. You can even try it with bottled ranch dressing! This dressing becomes thick when stored for longer. I always thin it out using water before serving. You can taste the dip and adjust the quantity of ingredients to fit your taste. It is also my favorite spread to slather on burgers, wraps, or quesadillas. I have also used it as a dipping sauce with appetizers or veggie sticks. This dressing can be used to perk up the taste of Burritos, or Buddha bowls.
Storage Suggestion
This homemade chipotle ranch dressing stays good in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Just bring it out, stir it well using a spoon and serve.
