About Coconut Basbousa Recipe
This recipe is originally from Egypt. You can add some almonds on top of the cake too. The cake has a lovely aroma of rosewater, saffron and cardamom. I tried it warm as well as cold, but i liked it more when it is warm. I added fresh coconut in this, but if you want to store this for some more days add desiccated coconut. If you add fresh ones it will get spoiled soon.
Ingredients for Coconut Basbousa Recipe
Dry Ingredients:
Fine Semolina / Fine Rawa - 1 cup Coconut - 1 cup Flour - ½ cup Sugar - ¾ cup Baking powder - 1 tsp Saffron - a pinch Cardamom powder - 1 tsp Salt - ½ tsp
Wet Ingredients:
Yogurt - 1 ½ cup Butter - ½ cup melted
For Syrup:
Sugar - ½ cup Water - ½ cup Rose Water - 1 tsp
