Eggless brownie
You all know that I have a very serious addiction towards brownies. This one is an addition to my brownies collection. I love it so much, can eat it all day. Specially this one is so moist and fudge kind of brownies, which is my favourite. This eggless brownies is a win. It is made without eggs and everyone in the family enjoyed it. I made this with chocolate chunks, you can add some walnuts as well.
What is a Brownie?
A square or rectangular chocolate baked confection is known as a chocolate brownie or just a brownie. Depending on each recipe and the ratio of chocolate to butter, the texture changes from cakey to fudgy. Brownies can be served or decorated variety of ways including nuts, frosting, chocolate chips. This taste amazing with a cup of milk or served warm with ice cream , topped with whipped cream, or dusted with powdered sugar and fudge.
About Eggless Chocolate Brownie
Brownies are delicious decadent dessert made with butter, sugar, cocoa, plain flour and chocolate. Unlike cakes brownies are denser and fudgier in texture which is achieved by the high amount of butter, chocolate and eggs. Ever since I shared my fudgy brownie recipe, I have been getting so many messages and comments asking for eggless brownie recipe. So I developed this recipe and it turned out so good. The recipe uses basic flour, sugar, butter, cocoa and milk. I added baking powder and chopped chocolate to achieve the texture. Eggless brownie turned out super fudgy and rich. My kids love savoury snacks more than sweet dessert. But the two things they love is brownies and chocolate chip cookies and ask me to make very often. This recipe uses just 10 ingredients and I bet you will have all of them at home. The recipe can be made from start to finish in less than 40 minutes. And I love the chewy fudgy chocolaty texture. Eggless Brownie Ingredients
Plain flour - I used plain flour for making this recipe. But you can use wheat flour instead of plain flour. The texture may be slightly different, but it will taste great. Butter - you need modest amount of butter in this recipe. I use unsalted butter so I can control the salt level in the brownies. good quality butter is melted and used in this brownies. I strongly recommend you to use butter and not oil. Sugar - white sugar and brown sugar provides the correct fudgy texture for the brownies. Cocoa - use the finest quality cocoa powder for the rich chocolate taste. Milk - since this recipe is egg free, milk is used to achieve the texture. Baking powder - even though I don’t prefer using baking powder in my brownie batter. A little bit of baking powder in this recipe helps with the texture. Salt - salt balance the taste of the sugar and chocolate. Chocolate chunks - Chopped chocolate is scattered all over the brownies. I like to use good quality milk chocolate. When you bite into a piece of brownie, this chocolate adds rich taste.
Eggless brownie batter
Over the years, I have made various version of eggless brownies. I have over 15 recipes for brownie in this blog. I have used yogurt, flax seeds, vinegar, lemon juice and buttermilk as my egg substitute. But this recipe which I developed is simple, easy, taste and look best. The top has a shiny look and underneath it is fudgy and dense. The recipe is simple to follow as well. It used butter which is melted and mixed with white sugar and brown sugar. Add in cocoa powder, plain flour, baking powder and milk. I like to use lots of chopped chocolate for taste and gooey texture. The brownies turn out fudgy and dense with melted Chocolate chunks.
Variations of Eggless brownie
Microwave eggless brownies - this is a microwave version of brownie which takes less than 2 minutes to make. Oreo brownies - the recipe uses crushed brownies and it is egg free. It is popular among kids. Oats brownies - I made this brownies many years back. It has oats and use yogurt as egg alternative. Lactation brownies - this is a recipe which I developed specially for new moms. It has ground flax seeds, which helps in improving milk supply.
How to Make Eggless Brownies (Stepwise Pictures)
Pre-preparation
1)Preheat oven to 180 degree c (356 degree F). Line a 23 cm (9 inch) square pan with parchment paper and set aside.
Melting Butter with Sugar
2)Take butter in a sauce pan. I am using unsalted butter in this recipe. Since this recipe uses salt, you have to use unsalted butter so you can control the salt level in the recipe. Make sure the butter is soft, so it melts faster without getting too hot. The butter mixture shouldn’t get too hot when adding sugar. It has to be warm. 3)Add in brown sugar. In this brownie recipe, you need a combination of brown sugar and regular sugar. The brown sugar keeps the brownies super moist. The butter shouldn’t be too hot. 4)Add in white granulated sugar. Caster sugar works too. 4)Heat this on low heat until the butter just melts and combines with the brown sugar and regular sugar. Take it off the heat.
Blooming Cocoa
5)Add in cocoa powder into the butter and sugar mixture. This step blooms the cocoa powder and makes it more chocolaty. Pro Tip: As an additional ingredient you can add a tsp of instant coffee powder which adds more chocolaty taste to the brownies. 6)Mix the cocoa on low heat so the butter, sugar and brown sugar is incorporated together. Now take it off the heat and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.
Making Batter
7)Let the mixture cool for 5 minutes. Now add in plain flour. 8)Add in salt and baking powder in the batter as well. 9)You have to use the vanilla before adding the flour. But I forgot, so I am adding now. 10)Mix the flour gently into the batter. Add in milk at this point, Mix it really well till it forms into a smooth batter. 9)use a spatula and mix the flour into the batter until it is combined.
Adding Chocolate chunks
10)Now add in chopped chocolate into the batter and fold gently. 11)Eggless Brownie Batter is ready.
Baking Eggless Brownie
12)Now pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. 12)Now sprinkle some extra chocolate on top and place it into the preheated oven. 13)Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in a 180 degree c preheated oven. Remove from oven and allow it to cool for 30 minutes . 14)Now remove this to a cutting board and cut into pieces. Enjoy. 15)Enjoy.
Expert Tips
Use good quality brown sugar and cocoa for getting perfect texture. Add cocoa powder while the butter is hot which blooms the cocoa and makes it super chocolaty. Cook the butter and sugar on low heat. Don’t over bake the brownies else it may get hard. Use good amount of chopped chocolate which adds taste.
Storage & Serving
Baked brownies can be stored at room temperature for 2 to 3 days. You can store in fridge for more than a week, warm in microwave for few seconds before serving. Eggless Brownies are best served with a cup of black coffee. Enjoy with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and caramel sauce. You can serve it as sizzling brownies.
Can I use yogurt instead of milk in brownies?
This recipe calls for milk which makes this brownies an easy to make recipe. You can add ½ cup yogurt in this which makes it fudgy too.
