About Golden Paste
Golden Paste also known as Turmeric Paste or Golden Milk Paste is a vegan and gluten-free Ayurvedic condiment. It is made using turmeric and a few other ingredients. This paste is a great way to include turmeric in your diet. While you cannot eat this paste on it’s own, you can literally add it to anything you eat and get its benefit. While the benefits of turmeric have been passed on to me through generations, I’ve been experimenting many recipes with the paste lately, and I have to say, the benefits are incredible. Use of turmeric can help with joint pain, and do wonders for digestion. It’s versatile paste — I’ve used it in everything from smoothies to curries and it gives a very distinct and wonderful taste. My recipe makes about 1 cup of golden paste in under 10 minutes which should last you for a while. You can start to use the paste in your daily recipes.
Usage Suggestions
You can use this paste to make a quick glass of turmeric milk (Haldi Doodh). Just mix a teaspoon of golden paste with 1 cup of milk, boil it and serve. If you want to use this paste in recipes that need some sweetness, then you can add some maple syrup or honey to it while blending.
½ cup ground turmeric 2 teaspoon ground ginger ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon ¼ teaspoon ground cloves ¼ teaspoon ground pepper 1 and ½ cups of water
Then keep the pan over medium-high heat and cook the mixture for 5-6 minutes. Stir frequently with a ladle or a silicon spatula while cooking. Then transfer the pan to your kitchen counter to let the mixture cool down to room temperature. It will take 15-20 minutes. Turmeric paste is now ready. Transfer it to a clean glass jar and refrigerate for up to 1 month. You can now use it as required in other recipes. You can add it to multiple dishes like soups, stews, overnight oats, smoothies, curries, hummus, pasta sauces, and salad dressings to enhance their flavor and health benefits. I add it to a few of my mocktails and cocktails like Mojito, Margaritas etc for a unique turmeric twist.
