Kappa Puzhukku
What do you think about this combination. This is one of the best combo in foods..Tapioca is one of the vegetable which falls under the category love it or leave it. If you love it like me, then this dish is heavenly for you. But if you hate it, sorry you are missing something, that’s all I can say.
About this Recipe
I made a garlic spicy chutney to go along with this..I added some coconut oil which made the chutney less spicy and so flavourful. Amma make this chutney by grinding shallots, garlic and dry red chilli along with salt. You could try it that way too. There is another one dish which goes perfectly with this tapioca. It is fish curry. The fish curry which you make for this is not the one which you add coconut or something like that, It is made little tangy by adding tamarind and curry leaves. I will surely post it some day.
Ingredients for kappa puzhukku
For Seasoned Tapioca:
Tapioca - 1 kg Mustard Seed / Kaduku -1 tsp Urad Dal / Ulundu – 1tsp Dry Red Chilli – 1 Curry leaves – 1 spring Salt to taste Oil- 1 tsp
For Green Chilli Chutney:
Green Chilli – 4 Garlic – 4 Salt to taste Coconut Oil – 3 tblspn
How to Make Kappa Puzhukku
For Seasoned Tapioca:
Peel the outer hard skin from the tapioca and cut into bite sized pieces. Put it in a colander and wash it well. Take it in a saucepan and cover it with water.Add salt to taste and bring this to a boil. Simmer this for 20-25 mins or until the tapioca is cooked through. Drain it and set aside. Now make seasoning by heating 1 tsp of oil and add in mustard and urad dal. After it crackles add in dry red chilli and curry leaves. Mix well. Add the boiled tapioca and mix well. Adjust the seasoning and remove into a bowl. Serve it with green chilli Chutney
For Green Chilli Chutney: Take green chilli, garlic and salt in a blender and grind it roughly. Now add in coconut oil and mix well. Serve this with tapioca.
