About Lemongrass Chai
Lemongrass Chai is Indian milk tea flavored with lemongrass. It comes together in 10 minutes using 6 simple ingredients. This hot beverage is perfect for kick-starting your mornings or relaxing evenings after a long workday. My personal favorite is Tata Gold. You will find it at any Indian grocery store or online. Lemongrass – You will need fresh lemongrass leaves to make this chai recipe. Lemongrass has many health benefits. Read about them here. Ginger – Ginger root adds a little spice to the chai and has many health benefits. Sugar – Adjust according to your taste. You can replace regular white sugar with cane sugar or jaggery powder. Milk – Whole Milk (full-fat milk) makes the best chai, but you can also replace it with skim or low-fat milk. To make lemon grass tea vegan, replace dairy milk with plant-based milk, such as almond, soy, or oat milk. Add a teaspoon of Chai Masala to this tea recipe to make lemongrass masala chai. Fresh or dried tulsi leaves, black pepper powder, crushed green cardamom, or turmeric powder can also be added to this recipe. Once the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low. Add ½ inch piece of ginger (crushed) and 2 teaspoon chopped lemongrass leaves to it and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes. Now increase the heat to medium-high. Add ½ cup whole milk (full-fat milk) and let the tea cook for another minute. Stir frequently to prevent it from spilling over.
