Ingredients

Mint Leaves – Use fresh mint leaves for the best taste. Lime Juice – This drink is best made using freshly squeezed lime juice. Ginger – Ginger adds a nice peppery taste to this drink. In case you do not have fresh ginger, you can add a little ginger powder instead. Sugar – Adjust the sugar as per your taste. You can increase or decrease the quantity of sugar depending on how sweet you want the soda to be. Club Soda – Top the drink with chilled club soda (soda water) for a nice zing. Seasonings – To add a little tangy and spicy flavor, you will need Chaat Masala Powder, black salt, black pepper powder, and Roasted Cumin Powder. Variations – Add some kokum juice while making the soda. Add Coca-Cola, 7-up, or Sprite instead of soda water.

How To Make Masala Soda

Add

½ cup mint leaves (packed, rinsed) 1 teaspoon peeled and chopped ginger 2 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice ½ cup sugar 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder 1 tablespoon chaat masala powder ½ teaspoon black pepper powder 2 teaspoon black salt ½ cup water

to the small jar of a blender. Blend to make a smooth paste. Pass the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer. Add 4-5 tablespoon of this mixture to a tall serving glass. Add a few ice cubes. Top the glass with chilled club soda and stir gently. Garnish with lime slices and mint leaves, and serve immediately.

Storage Suggestions

You can make the mint mixture and refrigerate it for up to 4 days. Just pour it into serving glasses and top it with soda water when ready to use. You can also freeze this mixture in ice cube trays. Just pop out one cube, thaw it, and use it to make the drink.
