About Sandwich Masala Powder

Sandwich Masala Powder is a spice mix sprinkled over Mumbai-style sandwiches to take their taste to the next level. It is a spicy, tangy spice mix made with just 7 ingredients in under 15 minutes. A little sprinkle of this masala over the stuffing of your sandwiches will transport you to the streets of Mumbai. This masala is easily available in stores, but making it at home has many advantages. This recipe is vegan and gluten-free, and you can easily double or triple it. Here are a few more Indian spice mix recipes I often make at home: Achari Masala Powder, Chaat Masala Powder, Chai Masala Powder, and Tikka Masala Spice.

Ingredients.

You will need very few ingredients that are already in your pantry: cumin seeds, whole black peppercorns (kali mirch), fennel seeds (saunf), cinnamon (dalchini), salt, dry mango powder (amchoor), and Kashmiri red chili powder.

How To Make Sandwich Masala

Dry roast

¼ cup cumin seeds 1 tablespoon whole black peppercorns 1 tablespoon fennel seeds 2-inch piece of cinnamon stick

over low heat until slightly fragrant (4-5 minutes), stirring frequently. Remove the pan from heat and let the spices cool completely. Note – If the spices are not cooled completely, they might release some oil, making the grinding difficult. Transfer them to a grinder or a small food processor along with

1 tablespoon salt 1 teaspoon dry mango powder 1 teaspoon Kashmiri red chili powder

and grind to make a smooth powder. Store in an airtight container. Use as required.

Usage Suggestions

You can sprinkle a little of this spice mix on the stuffing of your sandwiches. It tastes best when sprinkled on potato stuffing, paneer stuffing, cucumber, or even cheese. It can also be sprinkled over a bowl of grilled veggies or potatoes. You can also add a little to your paratha stuffing.

Storage Suggestions

Store it in an air-tight container at room temperature for about a month. Use a clean and dry spoon to take the masala out and close the jar with a lid tightly.
