It is nothing but tender lamb pieces cooked in a mild broth made using onions, green chillies and coconut milk. The curry is pretty milk and creamy, goes well with appam or hoppers. Delicious lamb stew which goes well with aapam, dosa, chapati or idiappam. This is easy to make and taste amazing too. Its been a while since I shared any curry recipe here. Yesterday hubby bought some mutton and I made two recipes for you all.
HOW TO MAKE MUTTON STEW
Cooking the Mutton: lamb is cooked separately till tender and cooked. I usually cook them in pressure cooker, Add mutton in pressure cooker, along with salt and cook for 4 to 5 whistle till lamb is cooked. Preparing the Onion Masala: saute the onions, tomatoes and chillies in coconut oil along with whole spices. Spice powders: very minimum spice powders are used in this curry like turmeric powder. Nuts Paste: add in melon seeds and cashew paste to the curry to add some thickness to the curry. Adding the Mutton pieces: add in the cooked mutton along with any broth left while cooking. Coconut Milk: add thick coconut milk in the end of the cooking for some creamy and milky texture.
