Peppermint Chocolate Cake
I’m all about peppermint everything lately, and one of my favorite combinations is chocolate and peppermint together – like York peppermint patties. Well, imagine the flavors of a York or Junior Mints in soft and decadent cake form! Yes, it’s seriously dreamy, and it should definitely be added to your holiday baking list – probably at the very top :).
This cake is the infamous Hershey’s cake recipe which I added a few minor tweaks to, like adding buttermilk in place of the milk for more flavor and replacing some of the vanilla extract for peppermint. I’m pretty sure it was actually the first time I’ve ever tried that recipe but I’m certain it won’t be the last. It’s a perfect chocolate cake that’s incredibly soft and deliciously chocolatey and moist, plus it is easily adapted to make the perfect peppermint cake for the holidays! Not enough chocolate for ya? Add chocolate chips to the cake batter, pour a drizzle of white chocolate over the top, or choose a chocolate ganache or chocolate glaze instead of the frosting. And this Peppermint Buttercream Frosting is what Christmas dreams are made of! With just a few teaspoons peppermint extract the festive flavors will have you singing carols. If it’s too sweet, switch to a cream cheese frosting.
Chocolate Peppermint Bundt Cake
When it comes time to whip up a holiday dessert for a Christmas party, try making this dark chocolate cake in a bundt pan! The shape looks like a Christmas wreath, topped with bright red crushed candy canes to make it a truly eye-catching centerpiece. Don’t have a bundt cake pan? Any fun shape can make this memorable. Serve this chocolate bundt cake recipe with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream, a mug of hot chocolate, or a glass of cold milk. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
