Rose Milk Recipe

There are times when rose milk was my absolute saviour. During my school days and my late night study sessions, I used to drink gallons of it and not get bored. Mom makes a jar of rose milk for me and my friends. Good old times!

About Rose Milk

Rose milk is a popular summer beverage made with milk, rose syrup and ice cream. You can easily buy readymade rose syrup in super markets. It is a combination of sugar, water, rose extract and artificial food colouring boiled until syrupy. Making homemade rose syrup is so easy and cost efficient too. All you need is to boil sugar and water until single string consistency and add in your flavourings. Rose milk is an absolute favorite one among kids. Added bonus, you can make the syrup in bulk and store in fridge and use it whenever you want.

Ingredients for Rose Syrup & Rose Milk

Sugar

Refined White Sugar is main ingredients in making rose milk. I don’t recommend adding brown sugar in this recipe because it may affect the colour of the end product.

Water

Typically I use 1 cup sugar and ½ cup water. This ratio makes the perfect simple syrup in less than 5 mins.

Milk

Use full fat creamy whole milk in this recipe. Make sure you boil your milk and cool it completely in fridge. Because rose milk taste great when served cold.

Rose Extract

I use clear rose extract in my rose milk. Start with ½ tsp and add more if needed.

Pink Food Colour

Add preferably natural pink food colouring. You can easily find them in super market, health food store or online.
