Ingredients
Strawberries – You can use fresh or frozen strawberries. If using fresh strawberries, you will have to freeze them for a few hours. Check my post on How To Freeze Strawberries when they are in season. Bananas – Bananas make the base for the smoothie and are filling. You can skip adding bananas if you wish to. Yogurt – Yogurt is a great source of protein and makes the strawberry smoothie healthy and nutritious. I have used plain yogurt, but you can use plain Greek yogurt, vanilla yogurt, or strawberry yogurt. Milk – Milk is added to adjust the consistency and to add to the creaminess of this yummy smoothie. I like to use whole milk (full fat milk), but you can choose low-fat milk, skim milk, or plant-based milk. You can even opt for orange juice instead of milk. Use 100 perfect fruit juice or make it at home. Sweetener – You will need some sweetener like honey or maple syrup if you like your smoothie sweet. You can also use raw sugar.
How To Make Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie
Preparation
Wash 10-12 strawberries well and wipe them using a kitchen towel. Chop off the top leafy part using a paring knife. Then, cut the strawberries into slices and freeze them for 5-6 hours. Peel and slice 1 large banana and freeze it for 5-6 hours.
Make The Smoothie
Pull the banana and strawberries from the freezer and thaw them for 10 minutes. Add
10-12 chopped and frozen strawberries 1 large banana, peeled, sliced, and frozen 1 cup plain yogurt ½ cup whole milk 1 tablespoon honey, or to taste
to the medium jar of a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth. Add more milk if the smoothie is too thick for your liking. Add more honey if needed. Pour the smoothie into 2 tall glasses and serve chilled.
Variations
Add your favorite fruits like berries, pineapple, cantaloupe, spinach, kale, coconut water, coconut milk, or orange juice. You can even add a spoonful of oats to make this strawberry yogurt drink healthier and add fiber. Greens like spinach, kale, etc., are perfect for this smoothie. To add a nutty texture, you can add nuts and nut butter, like peanut butter, cashew butter, etc. Replace dairy milk with almond milk, cashew milk, or coconut milk to make a vegan smoothie. To make a strawberry smoothie without bananas, replace bananas with mango, avocado, oats, chia seeds, or silken tofu. Add cocoa powder to make a chocolate strawberry smoothie. You can add flax seeds, hemp seeds, or chia seeds for a crunch and nutty flavor. Add beetroot powder, spirulina powder, acai powder, protein powder, etc, to make your strawberry smoothie healthier. Some people prefer ice cream shakes over smoothies. Smoothies are made using fruits and can have fresh or frozen fruits. While ice cream shakes utilize flavored ice cream and milk. If you prefer ice cream shakes, you can replace yogurt with ice cream and blend it with the fruits of your choice.
Storage Suggestions
The simplest way to store a strawberry smoothie is to refrigerate it. Keep the smoothie in an airtight container and place it in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Be sure to stir or shake the smoothie before drinking, as the ingredients may separate. If you want to store the leftover smoothie longer, you can freeze it. Pour the smoothie into an airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw the smoothie in the fridge overnight or on the counter for a few hours before drinking.
