on Jun 19, 2023, Updated Oct 18, 2023 If you like this recipe, you can also try my other smoothie recipes: Mango Banana Smoothie, Blueberry Bliss Tropical Smoothie, Strawberry Chia Seeds Smoothie, and Kiwi Quencher Tropical Smoothie. Whatever is said and done, the smoothies at Tropical Smoothie Cafe are pretty good. The only drawback is the insane amount of money you need to shell out to buy a glass. So, I am trying to decode their recipes and make them at home at a fraction of the cost. I made this Sunrise Sunset variation today, and it came out pretty close to the one sold at the cafe. Try it!

About Sunrise Sunset Smoothie

Sunrise Sunset Smoothie is a copycat smoothie recipe sold at Tropical Smoothie Cafe. It is loaded with tropical flavors and comes together in just 5 minutes using frozen tropical fruits, orange juice, and coconut water. This creamy and refreshing smoothie is super easy to make. It can be served for a light breakfast or as a snack on a hot afternoon. It is also a great smoothie if you are on a weight loss journey.

Variations and Toppings

This smoothie is super customizable. You can add ingredients or toppings to suit your taste. Here are some options. You can also buy frozen strawberries in bulk from Costco or Whole Foods. Pineapple – Peel and cut a juicy pineapple into small chunks and freeze it to use in this recipe. Mangoes add sweetness and taste and give the smoothie a beautiful orange color. Use fresh mangoes when they are in season, or use store-bought frozen mango chunks. You can also use canned mango puree or homemade mango puree. Orange Juice and Coconut Water – Add orange juice and coconut water to add flavor and adjust the consistency. Maple Syrup – This is optional. Add it if you want your smoothie to be sweeter. You can substitute it with honey (not vegan), agave syrup, or brown rice syrup.

1 cup frozen strawberries 1 cup frozen pineapple chunks 1 cup frozen mango chunks or ¾ cup mango puree ½ cup orange juice ½ cup coconut water 2 tablespoon maple syrup (optional; can sub for honey or agave syrup)

Blend until smooth. If necessary, adjust the thickness of the smoothie with additional orange juice. Add more sweetener if required. Divide the smoothie between 2 tall glasses and serve garnished with fresh strawberries, mango chunks, and pineapple. Enjoy immediately! Yogurt – To make it extra creamy, add Greek yogurt or coconut cream (for a vegan version). Other fruits – Add peaches, raspberries, blueberries, passion fruit, and dragon fruit. Greens – Add spinach, swiss chard, or kale. Citrus substitutes – Skip out orange juice and add lime, blood orange, or grapefruit. Watermelon – Add frozen watermelon cubes instead of strawberries. They taste great, too. Protein – Add an extra protein dose with hemp hearts, chia seeds, or vanilla-flavored protein powder. Toppings – Top the smoothie with your favorite fruits, granola, seeds, nuts, coconut flakes, or nut butter. To save time, buy frozen fruits in bulk from Whole Foods or Costco. Frozen fruits are also available at Trader Joe’s, Sam’s Club, and Target. Chill the glass beforehand, ensuring your smoothie remains thick and chilled for longer.
