Pin The original recipe suggest to add grape molasses for colour. Since i don’t have any, I toasted the sooji till dark brown also i used brown sugar instead of normal sugar. So the halwa turned beautiful golden colour. I garnished the halwa with crushed pistachios for a beautiful look. Also i served it in my authentic turkish plates and bowl which i bought recently. Pin
HOW TO MAKE TURKISH SEMOLINA HALWA
Toasting: Toast the semolina in butter till golden brown. Add chopped nuts and toast as well. Syrup: boil milk, water, sugar till it comes to a boil. Mixing: pour the water mix into the semolina and mix well. Cook till it is cooked. Flavour: I used rose extract which is optional. Serving: serve halwa hot, warm or cold. Toast the semolina in butter till it gets toasty and golden brown. You can use milk instead of water. Traditionally pine nuts are used. But you can use any nuts of your choice. Finely chopped walnuts adds nice crunch to the halwa Addition of rose extract is optional. You can skip if needed.
