on Jun 25, 2024, Updated Sep 16, 2024 Here are some more variations of lemonade you can try to bring different taste to your summer drink: Charcoal Lemonade, Lychee Lemonade, Sumac Lemonade, Mango Lemonade, and Mulberry Lemonade. When I think about superfoods, turmeric comes to my mind immediately. It is a power ingredient with many medicinal and therapeutic properties. This spice has been used in India since time immemorial for its amazing health benefits. Turmeric is rich in antioxidants and has anti-bacterial properties. It also boosts immunity. I remember my mother making Haldi Wala Doodh whenever we used to feel down or got sick. She would also put it on minor cuts and they would magically heal quickly. This turmeric lemonade is a great way you can include this super ingredient in your family’s diet. While most Turmeric based drinks are hot, this lemonade with turmeric is a great chilled drink that you can have in summer. I find it especially useful during rainy season when flu is in the air as it improves the body’s immunity and fights the virus.

About Turmeric Lemonade

Turmeric Lemonade is a refreshing drink which is made by adding turmeric to the classic lemonade recipe. It is easy to make and comes together quickly using simple ingredients from your own pantry. This drink is great to make in summer as it cool down the body and you also get the benefits of turmeric. I always make a pitcher full of it and my family and I sips on it a few times in a day. Lemon Juice – I always prefer squeezing a fresh lemon for this recipe. You can use lime juice instead of lemon juice. To sweeten the lemonade I suggest you use honey or maple syrup. Fresh Ginger Root gives a nice kick to this drink and you will love its flavor. I added a little black pepper powder to enhance the absorption of turmeric. You will also need ice cubes to serve the drink along with lemon slices and mint leaves to garnish your glasses.

4 cups water 1 teaspoon ground turmeric (or 1 tablespoon grated fresh turmeric roots) ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice 2 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup) ⅛ teaspoon black pepper powder ½ teaspoon grated ginger

My husband likes to have a smoother drink. If you also like it this way then strain the lemonade mixture through a fine-mesh sieve. It will remove the grated ginger pieces from the lemonade. This lemonade tastes the best when served chilled. So add 3-4 small ice cubes to your serving glasses and pour the lemonade over them.  I also love to make my servings look good, so I garnish the drink with lemon slices and few fresh mint leaves for an extra refreshing touch. Serve it immediately. Turmeric has a nice flavor and the amount mentioned in my recipe gives a subtle flavor of this spice. But if you want it stronger, you can increase the amount of turmeric you add to your recipe. You can store this lemonade in your refrigerator for 2-3 days. I would suggest you do it before adding the ice cubes. To bring out the best flavor in your lemonade, and if you have time, refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes before serving.
