About Orange Blender Cake Recipe

Orange blender cake recipe is made using one whole orange with skin. The entire fruit is chopped and added into a blender along with the remaining ingredients and the batter is done. The batter is then poured into a loaf pan and baked.  I like to use large size fresh oranges for this cake. Make sure you use seedless oranges or remove the seeds from the orange completely. Even one seed can make the cake taste bitter. The cake needs just a handful of ingredients which you might already have on hand. Add all the ingredients into a blender and purée to make the batter. The batter is then poured into the cake pan and baked.  You can serve the cake as it is or make an icing to pour over the cake. This orange cake can be stored at room temperature for two days in an air tight container. You can store the cake in fridge up to a week. Bring it back to room temperature before serving. The cake taste best as it is. But you can serve with a cup of coffee or tea.

Why is my whole orange cake bitter?

Making cake using whole orange doesn’t add any bitterness to the cake. But If there is even a single seed when blending it may make the cake bitter. So make sure you remove all seeds from the orange before making the batter.

Why do you boil oranges for a cake?

This cake doesn’t need any pre cooking of oranges. But oranges are boiled to soften and remove the bitterness from the pith (white part of rind). After this, they are blitzed – rind and all – with the remaining ingredients to make the batter.

Why is my orange cake dry?

Always measure your ingredients prior to baking. Don’t over mix your batter or over bake your cake.

Can we Frost this orange cake?

This orange cake is similar to a tea cake. So any heavy frosting doesn’t go well with this cake. But you can make a thin orange icing or glaze for this cake. Recipe is given above.
